Book two of the TWELFTH KEEPER series:

End of the world?

Possibly.

Taking a vacation wasn’t what Kennedy Mitchell had in mind after aliens threatened to attack Earth. Although she’s happy spending time with her family, she begins to question DOE’s motives for sending her home when she should be training. Something’s up and she knows it.

Searching for answers, she turns to Phoenix, the one person she can trust…or so she thought. It seems even he has secrets, and the more she discovers, the more she wonders if anything they had together was real.

The stakes are higher than they’ve ever been. One keeper goes missing. Another is determined to destroy her. As if that isn't enough to deal with, everyday humans get closer to annihilation. This time Kennedy has no one to rely on but herself.

Hey, no one said keeping the world safe was easy.

The Twelfth Keeper's New Cover Reveal

Cover by Rebecca Frank Art

When sixteen-year-old Kennedy Mitchell is proclaimed the world’s last keeper, she thinks it’s a cruel joke. Come on, her? Impossible. She’s no warrior. She isn’t wise beyond her years, or more importantly, capable of keeping Earth safe.

Except...no one will listen. And since all evidence says otherwise, the job is hers whether she likes it or not.

During the highly demanding training regime that follows, Kennedy struggles to fit in with Earth’s renowned protectors. Especially Phoenix Jorgensen, who openly despises her. Problem is, he may be the only one she can trust. The keepers have big secrets surrounding them. Secrets Kennedy isn’t comfortable knowing, much less being apart of. With Phoenix’s help, she’ll have to find a way out.

Either that, or die trying.

FAQ- Will Book 3 in the Twelfth Keeper Series be the LAST one?

Is Ocean of Stars the final installment?

Short answer: No.

Long Answer: Ocean of Stars precedes a larger part of Kennedy's journey. In fact, I never actually intended to write the story of Book 3 in the way it unfolded. The original plan was to start the timeline six months after the point where COTU ended...that didn't work out so well. I kept going back and revising my outline to include more flashback scenes, and eventually I realized I was skipping over vital developments. Sometimes these characters know more than I do. They want their stories told the way they want. *shrugs* Gotta give in to the creative process ;)

So how many books are you planning?

Short answer: I don't know.

Long answer: The story has to feel complete, and the characters need to have fully developed. At this point, there will definitely be a fourth, possibly a fifth. Beyond that, I can't say for sure. I've known from the beginning where Kennedy and Phoenix are heading, but I have no idea how many books it will take to tell their story.

Let me know if you guys have any other questions. I love hearing from readers!

Ocean of Stars Teaser #1

“Why this place?” he asked curiously.
Kennedy averted her gaze. “It’s unimportant.”
She had recurrent nightmares about the Rec Center. Never in a million years would he have guessed she would be here, but here she was. He wanted to know why. Because he seriously doubted that whatever brought her was unimportant. He knew her well enough to know that everything in her life was colored with meaning. She looked at the world differently than most people. Considered every possibility. Searched for shades of gray. It’s why she had such a hard time accepting her role as the twelfth keeper in the beginning. Until she expanded her own awareness, she couldn’t believe it. Refused, even.
She needed meaning more than anyone he had ever known.
“Tell me,” he urged softly.
She looked at him for a long moment, then shrugged a shoulder. “I guess I came here for answers.”
He nodded, understanding. This place seemed to rule her subconscious. Played at her fears. “Did you get them?”
“Not yet.”
“Are you still afraid I’ll end up out there?” He nodded toward the skylights. “Because you can rest assured, I’ll never leave. I won’t leave Earth, and I won’t leave you. Tell your dreams they’re wrong.”
She half-smiled, a dreamy yet contemplative look in her eyes. "If only it could be that simple."

Cover Questions & POLL

As I get closer to finishing Ocean of Stars, I keep getting this nagging feeling about the TK series covers. Don't get me wrong, I like them. But I can't help but feel there needs to be a sense of unity between them. And I  think the artwork should convey the heart of the story in a better way.

What do you guys think?

Should I change the Twelfth Keeper covers?

Yes, definitely.
No, leave them as they are.
I like the first, but hate the 2nd.
I like the second, but hate the first.

Is she dead?

No, I'm not! I swear!

However, it may seem that way. I haven't been very active on this blog, and I haven't had a new release in a while. I know I owe you guys the 3rd TK book (Ocean of Stars). I promise it's coming.

The reason it's taking so long is because I've been EXTREMELY busy. I also write Contemporary Romance under the name "Shanna Clayton" and I've been working on books in that genre for the past year. Between finishing those projects and working on Ocean of Stars, I also got married. Let's just say planning a wedding is easier said than done. It was supposed to be a small wedding. Just family and close friends. Nothing too over the top...well apparently my husband had a bazillion relatives I didn't know about. My "small" wedding went out the door. So that's where all my attention has been focused---and I really apologize. Thank you guys for waiting patiently. I plan to have the 3rd book out some time later this year.

Until then, feel free to check out my books under my other alias. You can find them HERE on Amazon  or HERE on Barnes and Nobles
