So I have been exploring the world of book blogging lately and I had absolutely no idea how large the community is. I was amazed. There are a
lot of freakin' book bloggers out there. And this makes me ridiculously happy. Now I know there are many more obsessive readers like me :) Anyway, I am going to start reviewing books too. I don't want to start with any I've already read, even though that list is super long. It just won't feel right. I'm reading
The Iron King by Julie Kagawa right now. And although it's been out for a while, I might start with it to get my feet wet.

ReplyDeleteYou've got three posts, so I feel like I can give you some advice.
You want to be an author. Scratch that - you're already an author; you want to be a well-known author!
Give us an excerpt. Better yet, give us some free short stories. Show the world what you've got. If you have something to offer, the reader will see it on the the first page. Heck, the first paragraph. Writing is fiendishly difficult. Anyone can write, but few can write well.
Just keep at it. Be a dreamer who does. Writing is a tough field, so do your thing and remember that in the beginning, readers might be more important that sales.

Thanks for your great advice, Mac! And I will always cherish you as my first "commenter" lol. I am definitely planning to post an excerpt soon. And yes, I agree that building a readership is key. But even if I only find a few people who enjoy my writing, it would still be kind of awesome.

ReplyDeleteIve always been a big reader, I've tried to get into writting atleast short stories but I can't always seem to focus on a topic with so many ideas in my head but, that's ok because there are authur's like you who give us great books to read. I'm amazed and awed by "Wanderlove". I take a bow in appreciation. I hope that one day I can clear my thoughts enough to write a book as hypnotic as your book "Wanderlove"
